Please purchase a copy of the book or check one out of the library for your student to complete the required readings. Although I do have a class set, I would like to keep these in the classroom so that we can read during class as well, as the students tend to forget their books at home. A lot of the Cookies and Annabels worked really hard on their “This I Believe” essays. Some of the students gave me permission to post the audio version of their essays. I’m really proud of these kids.

Burke’s Coffee Club
We had a really nice time at the first of many Friday morning Coffee Club meetups in my room. We enjoyed coffee, donuts and conversation.
We plan to meet Friday mornings before school (around 8:15). All students in 9th-12th grades are welcome. No tech, drama, or negativity allowed! The idea is for the students to socialize and get to know each other a little better without being distracted by cell phones, social media, YouTube, etc.
We can’t wait to do this again! To my students – thanks for making me smile and laugh today. 😊

Students start each class with a short writing assignment. Today’s prompt:
What is one lesson you learned so far from the book and how can you apply it to your life?
After the students completed the assignment, finished watching the movie. We also read several chapters of the book.
Romeo Group
We had a class discussion about the negative effects of technology on socializing. Students are to “people watch” over the weekend and report back with five ways that technology has interrupted or gotten in the way of face-to-face interaction.
Cagney Group
